There is an appealing background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime location, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge casino, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that contains numerous conveniences aside from the casino, which houses 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
